LG vs Samsung Laundry

If you are in search of a new washer and dryer you will probably look at a couple of different appliance brands before making a purchase. There is a lot of new technology innovations in laundry than you may realize. If you are in search of an appliance that has great technology and is stylish you will probably be wanting to look at LG and Samsung.
LG and Samsung are both Korean manufacturers that blasted into the appliance industry during the last decade. They both show no signs of slowing down. LG hit the market hard about 15 years ago and Samsung about 10. Both companies are known for their innovation, style, features, and technological advances.
Both companies are always rated highly in leading consumer publications. The LG brand attempts to be the leader in home appliance innovation. Samsung also  strives to become number one in the home appliance industry. Seeing that they have similar goals and are great rivals, makes it exciting for consumers to find the best machine. You know that no matter which company you choose, you know that you are going to get amazing technology and features like smart appliances or other advanced features.
The two companies both have very similar machines and branding strategies. The two companies were initially in high-volume stores, but switched to being independent stores  which creates an even more competitive pricing advantage for customers.  Most companies will first sell to independent retailers and then when they have processes and systems sell to larger retailers to support the volume.
A buying tip is to purchase during promotional times like holidays will save you 10% to 20% or even more.
We like both brands for different reasons. They both have similar cubic feet and interesting features. Their large capacity, over 5.0 is very impressive in both brands and often rate very well in consumer magazines. Because of the large capacity it is crucial to do site checks in your own home before delivery to see if they would fit in your basement or laundry room. They both have great advanced features like anti-vibration systems or sensor drying technology. Both brands are making their machines connected appliances meaning that you can control them directly with your smart phone to save consumers time and money.
There are some features and options than you will probably rarely use, but can be very convenient when washing delicate clothing. It's hard to believe where the technology has gone to with how specific each cycle can be.
Some time ago, LG used to be one of the statistically worst appliances to buy, but in the last decade they have vastly improved. Samsung has always been a great trusted brand. Unfortunately, they recently had a large recall, but have taken precautions to improve their production for the future. Both companies have received a lot of feedback about difficulty in getting parts in a timely manner. LG pays the lowest labor rates in the industry. Many service companies don’t want to fix these machines in warranty and risk a huge loss.
Now that you know a little more about both LG and Samsung. It's time to compare some of their models. Here are a couple of options to choose from:

Bosch Black Stainless Steel Dishwasher

We have seen many color changes in appliances over the years such as stainless steel, slate, white ice, and black stainless. Black stainless steel finish options are very popular and for good reasons. One of the biggest reasons is that black stainless steel resist fingerprints and smudges. This option makes cleaning much easier, especially when having young kids.

LG, Samsung, KitchenAid, GE, Whirlpool, and Frigidaire all have kitchen packages available in a Black Stainless. Each of the appliance brands have their own unique finish when it comes to black stainless steel and it is hard to mix and match the black color with the different brands.  Many of our customers might want a kitchen package in one of these brands, however, they tend to want their dishwasher to be quieter and better.

Bosch has always been recognized as a leading manufacturer of dishwashers.  Unfortunately, they have not had a dishwasher in a black stainless to compliment the black stainless offerings in the other brands…..UNTIL NOW!! Bosch does in fact have their own black stainless kitchen suite.
Today, I would like to introduce the new Black Stainless available in Bosch.  The new SHPM78W54N has all of the latest innovations in dishwashing technologies from Bosch, and is now available in a beautiful Black Stainless finish.

The unique thing about Bosch's black stainless is that the unique black-graphite tone color actually reflects light back into the kitchen. This makes the room feel more spacious and inviting when compared to other black stainless steel made by other brands which traditionally absorb light.

The dishwasher unit features 42 dBA which is a measurement of sound and makes this dishwasher one of the quietest dishwashers on the market. This dishwasher also has a stainless interior which make it last longer, handle higher water temperatures, and absorb sound better making  the unit quieter compared to plastic interiors. The other great feature is that this unit has a third rack for your utensils or other odd shaped items This also allows more space on the bottom rack for bigger items to fit.

If you are needing a high performance dishwasher to compliment your new black stainless kitchen, you should consider the new line in Bosch available in black stainless.

Please let us know if you have any questions. We hope to hear from you soon.

Choosing the Right Dishwasher for You

When it comes to choosing appliances for your kitchen, nothing has larger differences than those found in dishwashers. Before heading out to your nearest Appliance retailer or ordering one online, you need to ask yourself a few questions to ensure to make the right choice for you and your family.
  • Do you pre-wash your dishes?

If you do, then features such as hard food disposers may not be a worthwhile feature.
  • Do you run your dishwasher at all times of the day?

If your answer is yes, then look for a unit with a decibel rating below 50db. This will allow you to have a conversation in the same room as your dishwasher and it won’t interrupt your rousing anecdote.
  • Do you use a rinse agent such as Finish or Jet Dry?

This is important as not all dishwashers have a heated dry feature. Condensation dry units require a rinse agent to effectively remove spots and allow the water to sheet off your flatware and cups. In addition, heated dry units will dry considerably faster, but at a cost in terms of energy consumption.
  • How big are your plates?

I always encourage clients to bring in plates  or tall glasses and test them in a perspective dishwasher. Not all racks are the same, and nothing will frustrate you more than installing something that doesn’t accommodate your dishes.

If you can answer all these questions, your dishwasher buying experience will go much smoother, and ultimately you will be happier with your purchase.

Really, What Is The Best Time of The Year To Buy Appliances?

You’ve been seeing the commercials; the ads in the magazines, your fridge just decided to give up, or you moved into a new home and the appliances are avocado green from the seventies. There are so many reason why you may of started you appliance shopping journey, and one of the most important questions you’re asking yourself is “how” and/or “am I getting the best deal possible”.  Chances are you’ve seen an ad from Home Depot, Lowes, and even us Interstate Appliance and every week there seems to be some special deal or sale going on; and you’re stuck questioning when to buy. Or even worse you’re forced to buy right now, and waiting is not an option. If you take a few moments to review these tips you’ll be more prepared no matter the time you buy.

Expert Tip: If you don’t take anything from this article outside of this one tip you’re going to be in great shape. No matter where you purchase, make sure the retailer has a price match guarantee. But wait; not all price match guarantees are created equal. Make sure your retailer just doesn’t price match the day of the purchase but for at least 30 days after the purchase.

Recap: If the retailer will not price match 30 days after the purchase, even against their prices: DO NOT BUY!

Now that we’ve discussed one extremely important item to appliance shopping in general, lets talk about the best times of the year to buy appliances. Okay, let’s play a little game; take a few moments and think what the world and maybe even you think the best time of the year to buy appliances?
………. …… Let me guess you said “Black Friday”? While Black Friday generally has some great deals, fun door busters, and lines around the corner; the best appliance deals are rarely during Black Friday; or even in the 4th Quarter.

Okay, you’ve waited long enough; the best deals and the best time to buy appliances is over the 4th of July holiday. However, don’t just focus on that one day; chances are most retailers will start their 4th of July pricing weeks before. Yes, that means you don’t have to rush to shop for appliances on one of the most fun family days of the year. Let’s make these numbers real so you can understand the discounts a little better.

At Interstate Appliance we are known for the value we offer in our prices; our customers love to tell us how much money they’ve saved just by walking through our doors. We like when our customers save money, it makes us happy; and we know it’ll make you happy.
  • Everyday customers on average save 15% when shopping with us over the competition.
  •  During the 4th of July our customers have reported saving over 27% – 33% over the competition! WOW!
  •   In comparison to ‘Black Friday’ where our customers reported savings from 21% - 28%
Now that that’s cleared up we can’t wait to hear from you; so we can learn more about your project and partner together and find the right appliances for your needs and wants.

Why Invest in a Convection Microwave?

When shopping for a new microwave there can be more options available than you may know. A commonly asked question is “why would we need/want convection in our microwave”?  When shopping for a new microwave, please consider the following:
  1. How do we want to use our microwave? Do we need a unit that we can use as a primary cooking vessel, or simply a reheat machine?
  2. Where are we going to put our microwave? Do we want a counter-top unit or a unit that we can mount over-the-range?
  3. Who is going to use the microwave? Will the kids be using it, or do mom & dad do all the cooking?

If you are cooking for your family on a regular basis, having a convection microwave can be an invaluable addition to your kitchen.  A convection microwave can be used to bake, roast, and broil.  It can truly be used as a secondary oven.  If you would like to have a microwave that you can use for more than just a bag of popcorn, or a baked potato, then you should seriously consider a convection microwave. Nothing heated in a microwave will ever be browned or crispy.  Pizza, egg rolls, pizza pockets, chicken tenders, and French fries are always better in the oven or the deep fryer, and you would never cook pork chops or a pie in your microwave…..right???  Well, now you can!  With the benefits of a convection microwave, you will truly have a second oven at your disposal.  Prepare your main dish in your standard oven, have your casserole or dessert in your microwave….yes, I said your microwave.

Contact us today so we can help you pick out the right microwave for you and your family. They are available in counter-top, and over-the-range models, ranging from $399 and up.

Organize Your Laundry Room! Quick and Easy Tips

It’s a room that people don’t often think about, but can be absolutely essential to the well-being of your entire home and family. We’re talking, of course, about your laundry room. Though it may seem like just a tiny room which houses your washer/dryer combo, a laundry room can be so much more. With a little organization and a few creative ideas, you can transform your laundry room into an organized, efficient little powerhouse of a room that you’ll be excited to show off to guests. Read on for some great laundry room hacks!

·         Create a cute lint depository. You know those little boxes that real estate agents put flyers in next to a house’s “for sale” sign? Well, they actually make great little places to save your dryer lint- they can hang right on the wall next to your dryer, and you can let your creativity run wild and decorate them any way you like! Since dryer lint is actually an excellent fire starter for a campfire or charcoal grill, it’s worth hanging onto, and now you’ll have a nice-looking place to do that!

·         Wall-mount hooks for your ironing board. You never know when you’re going to need to iron something, but where do you stash that ironing board until you need it again? With a couple of well-placed designer hooks from the hardware store or online, you can create a cute out-of-the-way space to hang up your board.

·         Put together a “stain station.” It’s all well and good to read handy laundry tips on blogs like this one, but most of us promptly forget how to get a certain type of stain out of clothing when the need actually arises. By putting together an attractive little kit featuring all the things you may need to get a stain out, as well as a little cheat sheet for which kinds of products remove which kinds of stains, you can have the knowledge and tools you need at hand.

·         Use designated hampers to sort clothes ahead of time. Three attractive bins marked “whites,” “colors” and “darks” can help you to pre-sort your laundry so you don’t have any red sock/white towel mishaps in your future.

What are your favorite ways to keep your laundry room looking organized? Be sure to let us know in the comments section.
